This Tahiti hotel in Tahaa is situated in a paradise-like setting on the Motu Tu Vahine (Island of the Woman), a private little island of 23 acres, in the middle of the lagoon of Tahaa. The Vahine Island, Private Island Resort has everything to make your stay in paradise an unforgettable one.

The Ultimate Tahiti Hotel
White sand beaches, a magnificent coconut grove full of light and shadows, a coral garden full of underwater splendours, a full range of blue hues splashed across the lagoon, and a backdrop of superb sunsets over Bora Bora will take your breath away and remain forever etched in your memories of this unbelievable place. Vahine Island is one of those exceptional spots that steps outside of time, unique and spellbinding, where calm and sensuality harmonize with charm and serenity.

Located in the heart of the of the Society Islands Archipelago, in close proximity to Tahaa, the Vanilla Island, lies Motu Tu Vahine, an authentically Polynesian island which you will have the opportunity to discover. Contrary to most over touted tourist destinations, Tahaa has managed to stay refreshingly real, unadulterated and preserved: pearl farms, traditional vanilla plantations, copra farming, and fishing constitute it’s principal activities and resources. Tahaa is an island full of legends and secrets to reveal to the visitor who seeks to know more about the magic of Polynesia.

Vahine Island offers 3 types of lodging : 3 overwater “farés” (local style overwater bungalows) on the lagoon, 3 beach “farés,” and 3 deluxe suite “farés”. This Tahiti hotel resides on a heaven-like “Motu” (Tahitian for island) with a white sandy beach and a coconut grove on a manicured lawn, in the middle of the truly beautiful blue lagoon of Tahaa. Accommodations are spaced apart and blend in with the environment. The Polynesian bungalows are stylish and made of local wood and materials.

Tahitian Weddings at Vahine Island

A wedding on Vahine Island is something exclusive that involves the whole island and resort. Decorations, the entire staff and all guests are all part of this special moment that is yours. Vahine is a unique place, a part of the true heart of Polynesia and very different from what you find in bigger islands or hotels. The whole island is yours. In addition to the well-known, symbolic Tahitian wedding, a new law has been passed. Foreigners without residency in French Polynesia will be allowed to get married here as soon as the government applies the law and confirms the necessary papers. Weddings can be performed from mid October to June 30th
Tahitian Wedding Ceremony at Vahine Island
Proud of their traditions, Polynesian people offer to visitors many of their ancestors’ customs, modernized but still alive (tattoos, dances & legendary songs). Among these, the Polynesian wedding attracts more and more foreigners from all around the world. The actor Dustin Hoffmann, for example, made a dream come true here in Tahiti in 1995.
A Tahitian ceremony is always enchanting, to exchange vows, celebrate an anniversary or promise yourself to your loved one. It is always a vivid memory thanks to the gorgeous white sand beaches, the colours of the lagoon, the swaying palms, floral decorations, rhythmic musicians and the natural smile of Polynesian people. It is also a nice way to discover the population and its way of living.

The Tahitian wedding at Vahine Island is a local ceremony, conducted by a Tahitian priest and very respectful of the ancestor’s commitments from the Maohi people. It starts with the arrival of the groom and the bride in outriggers (they are supposed to row, but can be accompanied of rowers). A wedding certificate will be delivered on a “Tapa” made of breadfruit skin.

The Polynesian government voted a law last April to authorize foreign citizens to get married legally in Polynesia without residency. We just wait for more information…
