Day 1 - Arrive Auckland
Welcome to Auckland. Pick up your rental car from Auckland Airport. Today is at leisure in Auckland. Day 2 - Auckland/ Waitomo/Rotorua (226 miles/363 kms) (lunch and dinner included). Travel south through the Waikato farming country to Waitomo Caves for lunch, a guided tour of the famous Glowworm Grotto and an underground boat ride to discover the wonders of the caves. Continue on to Rotorua and enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and Concert. Day 3 - Rotorua Welcome to Rotorua, the thermal capital of New Zealand. Today you have some time to choose your own activities, ask your travel agent for ideas. Day 4 - Rotorua /Taupo/ Napier (135 miles/217 kms) Today a leisurely drive to the picturesque lakeside town of Taupo, situated next to New Zealands largest lake. Continue on to the Art Deco city of Napier. Classic New Zealand WIne Trail begins upon arrival. Tonight there is an opportunity to enjoy a guided Art Deco tour of this very unqiue city. Day 5 - Napier Grape Escape Wine Tours will take you to visit four-five local wineries with tastings of Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and some of New Zealands finest cheeses matched with a complimentary wine.. Day 6 - Napier /Martinborough (180 miles/285 kms) Touring the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail you head south towards the boutique township of Martinborough. On route we recommend a stop at the Mt Bruce Conversation Centre. This afternoon take the time to visit the many local wineries. Day 7 - Martinborough Today is yours to enjoy the many local wineries and atrractions of the area. Start your day in the town square and visit the Martinborough Wine Centre. In the afternoon take a short drive to Greytown and enjoy lunch at the White Swan Hotel and chocolates from Schoc. Day 8 - Martinborough/Wellington (49 miles/79 kms) Just a short drive across the Rimutaka Ranges before arriving in the capital city of Wellington. The rest of the day is at leisure. Day 9 - Wellington Zest Tours take you on a Taste Wellington Tour. Watch coffee roasting and discover culinary treasures at top gourmet food stores. Walk through interesting suburbs to a food writers home to chat and taste delicious treats. Savor a tasting lunch with matched New Zealand wines at a top Wellington restaurant, and meet the chef and/or owner. Day 10 - Wellington/Blenheim (61 miles/98 kms - including ferry crossing) Board the Interisland ferry and journey across Cook Strait and through Marlborough Sounds to Picton and onto Blenheim. Day 11 - Blenheim Today take an in-depth look at this wine region. Interact with winemakers and a wine and food-matched lunch at Allan Scott Winery. Visits include several wineries and the Makana Chocolate Factory, which specializes in handmade chocolate. Lunch is included today. Day 12 - Blenheim/Kaikoura/Christchurch (196 miles/313 kms) Classic New Zealand Wine Trail ends this morning. Travel south along to the coast towards Christchurch. We arranged a stop in Kaikoura for you to enjoy a Whale Watch excursion. Rest of the day at leisure. Day 13 - Christchurch Christchurch, a little piece of England deep in the Southern Hemisphere. Today is at leisure in the beautiful garden city. Day 14 - Christchurch/Mt Cook/Queenstown (369 miles/594 kms) Today travel south via Lake Tekapo to Aoraki-Mount Cook National Park. We suggest a scenic flight over some of the finest alpine scenery in New Zealand. Continue on to Queenstown. Day 15 - Queenstown Welcome to the mountain resort town of Queenstown. Your time in Queenstown is completely at your leisure to relax and enjoy this beautiful city. Day 16 - Queenstown Your tour arrangements conclude this morning
