Location: Alice Springs
Day 1:
An Adventure Tours Australia vehicle will pick you up from your hotel to commence a three day Uluru Explorer. Travel to the Outback Camel Farm for an optional ride (own expense). Journey past the ancient Hugh and Finke River Systems and Mount Conner to Uluru (Ayers Rock). Arrive at the campsite for lunch, then visit Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and take a hike to the Valley of the Winds discovering some of the secrets of this fascinating and ancient landform. Return to the campsite to watch the sunset over Uluru. After dinner sleep in an authentic Aussie bedroll (swag). Overnight accommodation in permanent campsite at Ayers Rock. (L, D)
Day 2: Commence with an early breakfast to watch the Uluru sunrise before enjoying an unguided walk around the base of Uluru. Deepen your understanding of the land and the Mala people as you take a cultural interpretive walk with an Aboriginal guide (and interpreter). Explore the many caves of the Mala people, learning how they lived and prepared for ceremonies. Your Aboriginal guide will also share the sensitive story of the Mala people who live at Uluru with their friend the Itjaritjari (marsupial mole). Also visit the sacred Kantju Gorge, a quiet water hole at the base of a dramatic rock face followed by a visit to the Cultural Centre to view and purchase Aboriginal arts and crafts. Return to the campsite for lunch then in the afternoon travel to Kings Canyon and your campsite. Tonight enjoy delicious camp oven cooking. Overnight accommodation in permanent campsite at Kings Canyon. (B, L, D)
Day 3: This morning climb and explore the impressive formations which make up Kings Canyon and view the Amphitheatre, Lost City and the picturesque Garden of Eden. Return to camp for lunch, then depart for Alice Springs. Tour concludes at approximately 6.30pm in Alice Springs. Please discuss drop off locations with your driver. (B, L)
