A Wayoutback Tropical Safaris vehicle will pick you up from your hotel to commence a two day Turtle Dreaming Top End Safari. Begin by travelling to the Mary River Wetlands. This region is home to over 250 bird species and has the highest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the Southern Hemisphere. Search for ‘crocs’ and other wildlife as you cruise on Corroboree Billabong. Entrance to Kakadu National Park is at the South Alligator River, a picturesque location for a picnic lunch. After lunch, visit Bowali Visitor Centre, where there is the opportunity to purchase Aboriginal arts and crafts before a late afternoon arrival at Ubirr. Here view a wide range of ancient Aboriginal art, learn the story of the Rainbow Serpent and climb the Nadab Lookout for panoramic views over the floodplain and beyond into Arnhem Land. As the day draws to a close head to your overnight campsite at Cooinda. Enjoy dinner tonight. Overnight accommodation in permanent campsite at Cooinda. (L, D)
Day 2: Today journey towards the southern end of Kakadu where the whole morning is spent at Gunlom Falls (seasonal). There is a large plunge pool at the base of the waterfall to enjoy, however the climb to the top of the falls is a must! Relax in a natural infinity pool with a postcard backdrop of the Arnhem Land escarpment, take a dip in the sandy middle pool and swim under a waterfall in the rear pool. Enjoy a picnic lunch in this beautiful setting. After lunch and a final swim in the lower plunge pool, leave the national park and commence the return journey to Darwin. Tour concludes at approximately 5.30pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence. (B, L)
