Day 1:
Board your Kingfisher Bay Resort ferry at the Kingfisher Bay Resort Reception at River Heads to commence a two day / two night Lake McKenzie tour. Enjoy a 50 minute crossing to World Heritage Listed Fraser Island. Arrive at Kingfisher Bay Resort Mainland reception to check in. Remainder of the day is at your leisure. Overnight accommodation at Kingfisher Bay Resort.
Day 2: This morning join your four-wheel-drive vehicle at the Kingfisher Bay Resort Village store, to commence a ranger-guided eco day tour. Learn about the natural and cultural history of Fraser Island and have the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear, blue waters of Lake McKenzie, the island’s most beautiful lake. Lunch is served at Eurong Beach Resort. Walk along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek, as it flows through the rainforest, from Central Station. Drive along spectacular Seventy-Five Mile beach and stop to swim in the fresh waters of Eli Creek. This swift-flowing creek, the largest on The Eastern Beach, spills 80 mega litres of fresh water into the ocean every day. Visit the wreck of the Maheno and marvel at the coloured sands of the Pinnacles. See an ancient forest being uncovered as Stonetool Sand Blow moves across the island. Overnight accommodation at Kingfisher Bay Resort. (B, L)
Day 3: Join your four-wheel-drive vehicle this morning at the Kingfisher Bay Resort Village store. Journey across the inland tracks to Stonetool Sandblow where the remnants of a petrified forest are still clearly visible in the sand. Take an interpretive walk onto Kooloro Sandblow’s golden sand to fully understand the dynamic nature of the island. Visit Lake Allom’s resident fresh-water turtle population, who love an audience and are attracted to the viewing platforms by a sea of applause. Relax and refresh in Fraser’s unique Champagne Pools and climb Indian Head to enjoy panoramic views of Seventy Five Mile Beach. The aptly-named Red Canyon is rich in minerals and oxides and offers another glimpse into the island’s fragile eco-system. Return to Kingfisher Bay Resort to board the ferry to River Heads. Tour concludes at approximately 5.50pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence. (B, L)
